Sudoku Solitaire

Reading can be a shared activity, but often it is solitary.  There is a peacefulness and a relaxation component to being alone…..and reading.  This piece explores that mood, but also reflects on the importance of different kinds of literacy, and the importance of keeping our minds active.

The artist book has hand-inked Sudoku puzzles, all focused on the number 1.  It is made to tumble, like the sections of a newspaper as they are discarded.

  1. Charcoal drawing 27 x 17.5

  2. Book Structure: single sheet, rams-head cut – washi, newspaper, ink
