interACTIVE

Boys are often less engaged by books.  If reading is essential for success, we have to find strategies to introduce books in ways that appeal to boys.  One way is by giving them books that are “interactive”–popups, sticker books, puzzle books, etc–and finding books that appeal to their interests.

I also reflected on the interactive nature of reading–again, that relationship between text and reader, and how we need to actively engage in the reading process.
